Skype Users: 300M minutes of Video Calls per Day, Six Months of Video Each Minute (infographic)
Skype officially became part of Microsoft today, nearly five months after the $8.5B deal was announced in May. To mark the occasion, Skype published an infographic that reveals that Skype's more than 663M registered users make 300M minutes of video calls per day, six months of video each minute. Video accounts for 42% of all Skype-to-Skype minutes.
The graphic includes history as well: the first public video phone became available in Germany in 1936.
LAUNCH has contacted Skype about the infographic and will update this story if we receive a response.
In a different measure of video's popularity, YouTube says that its users upload 48 hours worth of content each minute.
