The Washington Post just released a free app for Android that features news content, weather information, photo essays and more.

“The Washington Post App for Android is another example of our commitment to creating mobile products that offer dynamic experiences,” Chief Revenue Officer and General Manager of Digital at The Washington Post Ken Babby says in a press release. “As we think about more ways to reach our local and national audiences, we will continue to innovate and develop products that deliver rich user experiences.”

Other mainstream publication apps for Android include the New York Times, the Economist and the Guardian.

The Washington Post also recently debuted its Social Reader for Facebook, which tracks and reports everything you read, at f8 in September. See our coverage here.

Android users can download the app in the Android Market.
