Second Los Angeles Incubator in the Works
[ Photograph of VC Mark Suster courtesy of Laura Grier - Beautiful Day Photography ]LAUNCH has learned of a new Los Angeles startup incubator backed by GRP Partners, Accel Partners and Greycroft Partners in Los Angeles. It's unclear if this effort is related to Mark Suster's LaunchPadLA incubator.
We have learned that the incubator is looking for a physical space to house itself. That's a sign that it's going to have a serious, multi-year funding commitment.
This is the second incubator being, ummm, incubated here in Los Angeles. Just two weeks ago we reported on MySpace's Mike Jones forming some sort of incubator [ see our story ]. We've since learned that incubator might be associated with Clearstone Venture Capital.
LAUNCH has reached out to Accel Partners and Greycroft Partners for comment. We will update this story if we receive a response.
UPDATE: Mark Suster has told LAUNCH that these partners are not forming an incubator in Los Angeles.
Famously, Clearstone was a venture firm born out of the original incubator of all incubators, Bill Gross' idealab.
