How to Create a Delicious Stack
As part of its relaunch today, Delicious introduced Stacks, which are essentially playlists for the Web that can include any type of online content and that anyone on Delicious can follow
AVOS, the latest company from YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, acquired Delicious from Yahoo! in April 2011. Delicious users had until Sept. 23 to transfer their bookmarks to AVOS. See our story here.
"Our goal with stacks is to add more value to all the links being collected by the Delicious community," the company blog states. "Each new stack presents an opportunity to introduce the rest of the world to cool web content they haven’t seen before."
The stacks resemble Pinterest, the virtual pinboard LAUNCH editors used to find awesome iPad accessories. See our story here.
Some of our favorite stacks include: Everything you Need to Know About HTML5 Audio and Video, Delectable Donuts and FML. Mom's on Facebook.
Here's how to create a stack:
To create a stack, click "Create a stack" from the homepage. If you are not yet registered for the site, you will be prompted to create a Delicious ID.
First, name your stack with a title that will attract readers. Write an introduction describing what your stack is about and then add at least three relevant links. Click "preview" to get an idea of what your published stack will look like.
In the preview page, click "choose image" to make your stack visually appealing. Delicious will pull images and video from the sites that you added to your stacks. Users do not need to upload their own images. Users can toggle between the list view and full view, which includes images.
Click on a thumbnail to set it as the main image. When you are ready to share your stacks with friends, click "publish stack."
After publishing, click "save link" to easily add another site to your stack. You also have the option to make individual links private.
To view your stacks, click your Delicious username in the top right and scroll down to "my stacks."
Click "edit" to change the cover or add links. If you click "share stack," you can email it to friends or send to another Delicious user.
Since this stack features video, users can toggle to the "media view" to watch directly from Delicious.
