Facebook is rolling out an update to its news feed to let users have more control over what they see at the top of their stream, according to the Facebook blog.

Now, instead of being forced to view "Top Stories" first, which many users did not like, you can now use the Sort function to see most recent stories first.

"You can also continue to view highlighted stories first, followed by recent stories, like what you see today," Facebook's Mark Tonkelowitz writes on the Facebook blog.  "If you don't have the updates to News Feed yet, you can expect to see them over the coming weeks as the rollout continues."

At f8, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the Ticker to show users real-time activity of their friends on the sidebar, revamped the news feed and announced integration with Spotify. Facebook changed the feed to let users "see what matters at the top," and to make it act as a "personal newspaper."

In the wake of all the complaints, it is no surprise that Facebook is rolling back out the option to see stories in chronological order.

The sort tab is located at the top of your news feed. Select "Recent Stories First" if that is your preference.
