Google TV Adds Google Music App to Compete with iTunes Match

Just one day after releasing Google Music, the company has now rolled out an app for Google TV.

The Google Music app streams directly from your cloud-based library and plays in the background while you use other apps on the Google TV.

As long as you installed the Android 3.1 update that brought apps to the platform, you can start using the Google Music App now.

The Music app for Google TV directly challenges Apple, which just released streaming and matching service iTunes Match for all Apple devices.

"We’ll continue to improve your Google TV by bringing more entertainment all the time, so be on the lookout for future updates to the Google Music app along with other great apps coming to Google TV," Google TV Product Manager Jurek Foryciarz writes on the Google TV blog.

Google TV first launched in October 2010. In October 2011, Google TV revamped its interface and added more apps.
